If the Promoted/Queued Links system follows the Digg system, then Gravity follows that of Reddit. It is currently still in beta with the possiblity of someday becoming the main voting system of SoLinkable. Basically it works like this: an algorithm takes the age of a submission and compares it to the amount of votes it has recieved in this time. The algorithm then assigns a numerical value to this submission. In the end, a new story with a few votes > a new story > an old story with a few votes > an old story.

Once registered, click on the "Submit a New Link" button located at the top of any page. Enter the "URL" and click "continue". Fill out the "title" you would like to use for your story, select the relevant category, any tags (keywords) you would like to use, the "body" (ie. story description), and click "Preview and Submit". Once you are satisfied with your link details click "Submit" to finalize your entry.

Any type of link can be submitted. If it can be typed into the "URL" field, it can be submitted. If you are linking to another file type, please indicate through the story title with a tag (like [video] or [PDF]). We do, however, try to keep SoLinkable at least somewhat work-safe. Any submissions that are made in extremly poor taste or of pornographic material will be removed from the site and may result in a ban of the offending user.

In order to comment on a story you must first be logged in. The comment field is located beneath the last comment on the story page, labelled "Post A Comment". Simply enter the comment in the text field provided and click "post comment". Currently there is no support for html, however the comment system will be updated in the near future.

Once logged in, click on the link labelled "Profile" in the top right corner of any SoLinkable page. This will take you to your profile page. Once here, changes can be made to your profile by clicking on the "Modify" button. Please be advised that after some changes have been made, they may take a few minutes to take effect (ie. changes to passwords).

Karma is a mathematical algorithm which takes into account a users submissions (published, queued, and buried), comments, and voting habits. I will not get into the actual formula here, however I will tell you that links which have been submitted AND promoted to the front page hold the most weight, although commenting and voting can be much easier and faster ways to climb the karma ladder. It is updated once a day, and the algorithm takes into account the last 7 days of activity on SoLinkable.

The "Top Karma" list located on the right sidebar is a decending list of the top participants of SoLinkable (ie. those who have the most "karma"). It is very similar to the top commentators widget for Wordpress except that karma takes into account far more than just comments. Your username will link back to the "Homepage:" specified in your user profile. Instructions to complete this field can be found here. If no homepage has been entered, it will simply list the user without any link.

We rely on people like you to make this site enjoyable, unfortunately there are those who create accounts for the sole purpose of spam. Due to this we may delete users who blatantly and/or consistently submit obvious spam. This also applies to submission spamming, which is different because it may be quality content - however the submitter is "spamming" every story from their site/blog. While we encourage users to submit their own content, constant submission of questionable content may cause other users to mark the submitter as a spammer, along with the site being submitted. We recommend considering this before you engage in this activity.
