Game 5 of the World Series was suspended because of rain in the sixth inning with the Rays and Phillies tied at 2 and the field already a sloppy, soggy mess. No World Series game had ever before been started and not gone at least nine innings. The game will be resumed with the Phillies about to bat in the bottom of the sixth. No time has been set, but Bud Selig said at a news conference that it would not be before 8 p.m. tonight.
